Laser 1st, LLC is a family owned business, specializing in permanent hair removal. The clinical oversight and medical director is performed by Dr. Luke (Mike) Stapleton, MD. The business manager and principle tech performing many of the procedures is Hilda Stapleton.
Luke M. Stapleton, MD (Dr. Mike)
Dr. Mike was born and raised in Jefferson City, TN. He has lived in the Augusta area twice in his life, initially from 1980-1983 and currently since 2001. He is married and has two stepsons. He attended college and medical school on scholarships provided by the military. After graduating from the University of Tennessee Center for the Health Sciences in 1980 with a Doctor of Medicine Degree, Dr. Mike completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Hematology and Oncology. He is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Oncology. In addition to numerous hospital and regional committees that he served on as both chairman and members, Dr. Mike was: the Director of a Hematology and Oncology Service that had a Hem/Onc fellowship training program; the Medical Director/Deputy Commander of a military hospital; and the Medical Director of the Southeast Regional Medical Command. He has also been a Chief Medical Officer of a large healthcare system and the chief of staff of a large hospital. He has served on several committees for women’s health at both a hospital and regional level. In 2004, Dr. Mike retired as a Colonel from the Army after 26+ years of active duty service. He has held faculty positions as an Associate Professor at the Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii from 1987-1990 and later at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle from 1991-1996. He is currently a member of AMSUS (Association of Military Surgeons of the United States) and the National Association of Managed Care Physicians. After retiring from the Army in 2004, Dr. Mike opened Laser1st, LLC. He received training by a physician in Atlanta, and through Cynosure, the manufacturer of the laser machine used in the practice. This training included the use of a laser in permanent hair removal, the treatment and removal of spider veins, and the removal of dark spots from sun-damaged skin.
Hilda Stapleton
Hilda was born in the Philippines but has lived in t he United States for the past 35 years. She has a Bachelor’s Degree as a Medical Technologist with certifications in Hematology, Chemistry and Medical Technology. She is retired from government service after 30 years with the Department of Defense. She has received extensive training in the use of a laser for cosmetic enhancement. For the past 4 years and as the co-owner of Laser 1st, she has served as the Officer Manager and laser technician. She is a people person and ensures a personal touch to all consultations and services. She has “hands on experience” not only as a technician but as a customer at Laser 1st. She does all of our microdermabrasions and most of our procedures for laser hair removal. With over four years experience as a laser technician and thousands of procedures, you can trust that your treatment will be done correctly.
